Dear Friends,
This is my first official post on my blog Postcards from Julia! I had listed “start a blog” on http://www.43things.com/ (fun site!) as one of my 43 things that I want to do. It was one of my easier goals…#31. Become an eccentric millionaire is going to be somewhat of a challenge, but I’m optimistic. I have a bit of a thing for mail, hence the name of my blog. I love getting letters, emails, cards, sending postcards, receiving postcards, movies about letters, and so on. Isn’t there just something nice about a handwritten letter?! No one does this anymore. Speaking of movies I love about letters.....
One of my all time favorite movies is “Shop around the Corner” directed in 1940 by Ernst Lubitsch. It stars James Stewart and Margaret Sullivan who play shop employees that cannot stand one another but end up falling in love through letters that they are writing to each other as anonymous pen pals. Other favorite flicks like it are “You’ve Got Mail” and “In the Good Old Summertime.”
My hope for this blog is that I can share my art, stories, inspirations, and all sorts of tid bits.
