Yeah Pumpkins!!

Things that made me happy today...

1. Not having to work on a Monday
2. Forgeting my birthday is this month and getting a free gift from Sephora!
3. Pumpkin patches

I finally decided that it being well into October, that I needed some pumpkins! It was a perfect day for a drive. I got in my car opened the sun roof and took the back roads to my favorite pumpkin patch. It's nice to be the only car on the road sometimes. I'm a big kid when it comes to Halloween. It takes me about an hour to pick out the pumpkins I want. There were so many to choose from. I ended up buying a big orange pumpkin which is now on my porch, two white pumpkins, and two little baby pumpkins. I resisted the urge to buy a fairytale pumpkin (magical carriage not included :( ). I decided I had already spent enough money on something that was going to rot in a few weeks.

Things that make me :)

Things that made me happy today...

1. Beautiful watercolor illustrations
2. The magic of autumn (the leaves are finally starting to turn!)
3.Reese cups...why does candy always taste better around Halloween?? I think it's a nostalgic thing ,but I swear Reese cups are better in October..could be all of the chocolate peanut butter goodness. I remember I always used to eat them first..after I dumped all of the Halloween loot on the floor and seperated it, of course.

I just stumbled upon the whimsical work of a Manhatten watercolorist CAITLIN MCGAULEY via the lovely online magazine Loony. I love her style and it just makes me want to break out the pencils and paint! I love her illustration of the girl in the leporad scarf.

Well I am off to work on some crafty projects and watch my lastest television obsession Eastwick.

Night!

Julia's Weekend Update

So I realize that I'm a little behind on my postings and its already the weekend again but better late than never right?

Last weekend I headed to my favorite college town, Bloomington, Indiana, where I spent my days as an undergrad at IU (Go Hoosiers!!) No trip to Bloomington would be complete without a trip to my favorite shop the Cactus Flower. The shop has a great vintage section upstairs and new boutique style clothing downstairs. I found a pair of over-the-knee brown leather boots that is kind of pirate looking (argh!). Needless to say they made my day. I also couldn't leave town without stopping at the Village Deli, my favorite place to eat in town. They have the best giant pancakes in the world I'm sure! I mean we are talking "as large as the plate" giant pancakes!

Sunday I went to the IU auditorium to the Ben Fold's concert with my friend Tiffany. Ben is hilarious. He also has an amazing voice and knows how to rock out on a piano. Kate Miller-Heidke opened the show. She is like the female, Australian version of Ben. Her Facebook song is hilarious. I also found out at the concert that Ben is colaborating with one of my favorite authors, Nick Hornby (wrote About a Boy,Fever Pitch, High Fedelity..and more great lit) writing songs! All in all it was a fun weekend and it made me feel like I was back in college again. *sigh* I’m ending this blog with a video from Ben. I love this song so much and it’s such a cute video.
